A common complaint as your mattress begins to sag is how it makes sleeping uncomfortable. People toss and turn to avoid the noticeable dip, resulting in sleep deprivation and pressure point issues. 

However, the main issue that a sagging mattress poses is how it doesn’t provide the proper support for your spine. From the sag, it throws off spinal alignment with its uneven surface, resulting in stiffness and back pain. 

Think of your mattress like a back – something that provides support. Once that support gives out from a sag in your bed, you can expect your own back to give out consequently.

What to Do About a Sagging Mattress

You can take a few avenues to remedy a mattress starting to sag. If the sag isn’t too deep, you can always opt to place a mattress topper to fill out the dip’s space. For temporary relief, you can always consider flipping your mattress. However, most contemporary beds are built so that it isn’t necessary to do so – unless you purchased a double-sided mattress.

Another alternative is checking out your box spring. You would be surprised to find that the middle of your bed is sagging because the center of your foundation doesn’t have enough support. But if all else fails, your next best option is to consider buying a whole new mattress. In your search, ensure you find a bed that will ultimately support your weight enough to give proper spinal alignment and comfort by keeping it straight as you sleep.
